Megan and Pat painting together

I have been painting and drawing since I was a child, but off and on as an adult. Only in the recent few years have I tried to develop the talent I inherited from my Mom. I have painted for family and friends, and have done commissioned pieces as well, for special occasions. This is the first time I've created a website to document my work, and to sell to whomever might wish to own.

My mother was a gifted artist. She took lessons in England in her twenties, and painting in oils, favouring paintings of old barns and boats. She moved to watercolours in her later years and produced soft, beautiful landscapes. She taught me how to paint with watercolours at our kitchen table, showing me techniques and helping me to see things with an artists eye.

For the first year after her stroke in 2006, Mom refused to try to paint. She simply couldn't face the loss of her ability. Finally, at Christmas, I drew pictures on card stock and put a paintbrush in her hand and told her just to "fill in the colours". Her natural creativity and artistic eye returned in a flash. Despite paralysis on her right side, she switched to painting with her left hand and kept it up, producing beautiful work over her remaining years. I hope to be able to do justice to her amazing talent!
